YOGA PROGRAM


 

 

Dana Sara, Program Director

Dana Sara loves to be in motion. A lifelong commitment to yoga practice has helped Dana to realize her physical potential, avoid injury and overcome challenges. She has decades of experience teaching students who have diverse goals, from members of the US Ski team and the military to members of the band Phish. She offers unique insight and a well-rounded approach to teaching and has enjoyed great success with students of all levels and ages.

Practicing with many of the great yoga masters and exploring many systems, Dana has been particularly inspired by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and Tim Miller. In Kundalini yoga she trained at Ram Das Puri under Yogi Bhajan where she was an official photographer for 3hO. In 2005 she was invited to meet with His Holiness the Dalai Lama to participate in an exclusive symposium where they implemented programs bringing mindfulness into the corporate structure and healing into the 21st century. There she was introduced to an apprentice of His Holiness, Lama Tenzin with whom she studied Tibetan yoga.

Dana has been the creator and director of many wellness programs where she instructed yoga, including: The Center for the Arts, Dancers’ Workshop and Amangani Resort in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, additionally at Snowbird, Alta and Sundance resorts in Utah. She is currently developing wellness and theatre programs at the Anneliese's Schools in Laguna Beach, California. Dana sits on the Board of Directors of The Women’s College for Rural India, free to all girls and women. Dana was a founder of the Jackson Hole Film Festival and as Program Director initiated the Global Awareness program, which gained recognition for raising human rights issues.

A sponsored snowboarder for over 15 years, Dana has pioneered many high peak descents, and made appearances in the action sports classics Electric and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Bang. Training in dance throughout her life, she has performed with professional companies such as Ballet West and has appeared in numerous videos. Dana was a student of the Interlochen Arts Academy, a member of the Piven Theatre Workshop and did undergraduate work at the California Institute of the Arts. She attended a graduate program at UCLA in injury prevention for dancers and athletes.

In the early 1990’s Dana first trained with Grandmaster Hee Il Cho and Jacob Cho at Cho’s Tae Kwon Do. Today Dana is happy to be collaborating with Mr. Jacob Cho in the creation of Cho’s Academy.
