Dana Sara, Program Director Dana Sara loves to be in motion. A lifelong commitment to yoga practice has helped Dana to realize her physical potential, avoid injury and overcome challenges. She has decades of experience teaching students who have diverse goals, from members of the US Ski team and the military to members of the band Phish. She offers unique insight and a well-rounded approach to teaching and has enjoyed great success with students of all levels and ages. Practicing
with many of the great yoga masters and exploring many systems, Dana
has been particularly inspired by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and Tim Miller.
In Kundalini yoga she trained at Ram Das Puri under Yogi Bhajan where
she was an official photographer for 3hO. In 2005 she was invited to
meet with His Holiness the Dalai Lama to participate in an exclusive
symposium where they implemented programs bringing mindfulness into
the corporate structure and healing into the 21st century. There she
was introduced to an apprentice of His Holiness, Lama Tenzin with whom
she studied Tibetan yoga. A sponsored snowboarder for over 15 years, Dana has pioneered many high peak descents, and made appearances in the action sports classics Electric and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Bang. Training in dance throughout her life, she has performed with professional companies such as Ballet West and has appeared in numerous videos. Dana was a student of the Interlochen Arts Academy, a member of the Piven Theatre Workshop and did undergraduate work at the California Institute of the Arts. She attended a graduate program at UCLA in injury prevention for dancers and athletes. In the early 1990’s Dana first trained with Grandmaster Hee Il Cho and Jacob Cho at Cho’s Tae Kwon Do. Today Dana is happy to be collaborating with Mr. Jacob Cho in the creation of Cho’s Academy.
